Following the official admission of the Republic of Macedonia to Creative Europe - MEDIA sub-programme on July 24, 2015, two Macedonian films participated at the call for project development, and two applications were submitted to the call for cinema support.
Out of the two submitted applications for project development, MEDIA granted a support to the feature film for children “Sugar Kid” directed by Igor Ivanov, which is one of the 56th selected projects out of the 356 submissions from November of last year.
“Sugar Kid” is supported by the Macedonian Film Agency with 2015 programme, and is produced by Skopje Film Studio (Tomi Salkovski) with the script being based on the novel "The Sugar Story" by Slavko Janevski.
Aside from being supported by the Macedonian Film Agency and the MEDIA sub-programme, “Sugar Kid” received a development grant by the regional fund SEE Cinema Network.
This first support for the Republic of Macedonia coincides with the official launching of the MEDIA desk within the Macedonian Film Agency which is to inform and offer support to Macedonian film workers and interested parties regarding their applications for the calls published by the MEDIA sub-programme.
